Delegation trip to the “Cyber Week” Conference in Tel Aviv

In June the AICC organized a delegation trip to Israel with members from five federal ministries with a focus on whole-of-nation cyber security. In addition to attending Israel’s largest cyber security conference, Cyber Week Tel Aviv, high-level bilateral talks were also held, including with Yigal Unna, Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and with Giora Eiland, Major General (ret.) of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and former Director of the National Security Council in Israel.

The support of the Israeli embassy in Austria and the Austrian embassy in Israel made the visit especially fruitful. Julia Jarolimek, Trade Officer at the Israeli embassy, organized a “Startup-Day” especially for the Austrian delegation, where startups such as BG Protect presented their innovative products.

The Austrian delegation was also invited to an evening reception in the residence of Austrian Ambassador H.E. Martin Weiss. This gave the delegation members the opportunity to discuss the Israeli cyber ecosystem with Iddo Mo’ed (Cyber Coordinator of the Israeli Foreign Ministry), Lior Tabansky (Head of Research Development for the Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center at Tel Aviv University) and other important stakeholders from the field.

Another highlight of the delegation trip was the visit to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and ELTA Systems. Here, members could gain valuable insights into national cyber defense strategies and solutions.

Following the successful delegation trip, the AICC plans to hold a one-day conference on cyber security in autumn 2019. The development of a cyber ecosystem in Austria, following the example of Israel, will be discussed in various high-level panels. Further information will follow shortly.
